Caseflow: Product Design
Helping the Board of Veterans’ Appeals modernize their business processes.
Caseflow is a web application with a mission to increase timely and accurate appeals decisions for the Board of Veteran’s Appeals. The tool is a suite of products that process Veterans Affairs appeals across two appeals legislation systems – legacy and Appeals Modernization Act (AMA).
Role
As a designer and researcher, my role is to conduct research to support product development, design and validate UI flows, and align stakeholders around design decisions. During my 2 years here, I have become the most tenured designer on our design team of 10 people. I have bounced between 2 different scrum teams while focusing on designing functionality to intake all AMA appeal types into Caseflow. Moreover, I’ve matured our design team operations by creating design system assets and research templates.
Project Work
CAVC Remands
Created a workflow to process remands from the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC) that has jurisdiction over decisions made by the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA).
Caseflow UI Kit
Created the Caseflow UI Kit to mature our design system. My goal was to improve the team’s design production velocity and consistency by making design assets accessible.
